Climate Change – An Unavoidable Truth

Change is inevitable on Earth. It can be both good and bad. When the environment takes a turn
from the Ice Age, it prepares for the heat coming from the Sun, in a natural way. But, when
human activities meet the environment with pollution, that decreases the amount of Oxygen on
Earth, and increases Carbon Dioxide it can become harmful, thus detrimental to humanity.

How it is affecting us humans :-

Climate Change harms humans through extreme weather events, like injuries and deaths from
either awful heatwaves, or devastating floods. It also expands the infectious diseases on Earth
because of the heated surroundings. Scarcity of water, food causes malnutrition and lack of
clean water can cause some serious waterbone diseases. But, this can all simply be avoided if
people can lend a ear, and work on some sustainable development projects to save the Earth.

Ways through which people are working on sustainable practises :-

  1. People are working on renewable energy and resources, which is a huge boon as it can
be replenished such as wind, hydro or solar power. Investing in these energy and
resources can lessen our reliability on fossil fuels, therefore reducing the normal energy
    bills.
  2. By reducing the waste that us humans generate, we can protect and reduce the gas
emissions, if of course we play our cards right. It includes some recycled materials and
compostable options as well as optimizing packaging size. Globally, 9 out of 10
companies are working towards circular business models and also many countries such
    as Italy.
  3. Practise sustainable tourism. Following the catastrophic pandemic, people have become
more aware of the cultural and economic and environmental impacts with tourism. These
sustainable resource management ensures that vital materials (such as water or food)
    can remain for future generations.

What’s India’s focus on climate change?

India has a major problem in crop yields. Increased temperatures and erratic rainfall are
severely disruption crop rotation. Projects indicate potential yield reductions for staple crops like
wheat, rice and maize by 2060. For this, India has implemented many policies like the NAPCC
which was launched in 2008, focusing on 8 different missions promoting solar energy
sustainable agriculture and water efficiency. In 2021, India updated its climate targets with five
key commitments, including achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, meeting 50% of its energy
needs from renewable sources by 2030, and reducing the carbon intensity of its economy by
45% by 2030.

What’s the future outlook for the world?

Predicted by many, temperatures will rise and hit record levels. There will be many long-term
outlooks depending on greenhouse gas emissions. Sea levels will rise due to the glaciers
melting and potentially draw out a couple of cities near the coastline. Furthermore, we will see
some destructive changes that will last for thousands of years.

As Leonardo Di Caprio once said, “Clean air, water and a livable climate are inalienable human rights. And solving this crisis is not the one for politics!”

Overall, Climate Change is a huge problem affecting every country on the globe. The future is
now, right in front of our very eyes, and there will be no future if we continue these injurious
activities. If all of the humans unite, work together on this problem, we can be saved and make
a healthy future for our future generations!
