As a wise man said, “No challenge poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change.” Climate change is not just a problem, it’s a threat to our future generations. Imagine a girl living in Bangladesh — a country where floods have destroyed millions of lives. The deadly diseases like malaria, cholera are spreading in these flooding, infecting little kids. The flood water wasn’t just rain – it was mixed with sewage, dirt, and waste, turning it into a breeding ground of diseases. This is not just in Bangladesh, it’s spreading rapidly all over the world.

For instance, far away in Colombia, the Wayuu people faced both droughts and floods. Their homes were abandoned, and small children lost their family in the flood. There is not even access to basic amenities like clean drinking water, food etc.

In Zambia, a terrible cholera outbreak in 2024 affected nearly 20,000 people. The flooded areas became the ground of breeding mosquitoes, spreading the diseases rapidly. But there is hope… there is a solution for all these problems.

“We are the first generation to see the future effects of climate change and the last generation who can do something about it.” This quote is the perfect example to show that urgent action is possible and necessary. The UN (United Nations Organisation) is making a really big contribution to save the world from climate change. They are working hard: building clean water systems, sending vaccines to disaster zones faster, and helping hospitals prepare for emergencies.

Climate change is also restocking world’s stock markets. According to Bloomberg, global investments in renewable energy reached $1.3 trillion in 2023, a record high, while fossil fuel stocks have faced increasing volatility. The International Energy Agency (IEA) also reports that by 2030, the clean energy sector could attract $2 trillion annually, overtaking fossil fuel investments for the first time in history.

The young generation has a crucial role to play in this fight. Small actions, when multiplied, create powerful results. Young people can save energy by switching off lights, using solar power, and avoiding unnecessary waste. By spreading awareness through social media campaigns and climate clubs, the youth can inspire others to join.

In conclusion, climate change can’t be addressed by one it needs to be addressed by the whole world. We have to work together co-operatively. Let’s be the generation which chooses solutions not excuses.
