It is not yours, not mine; it is our environment, and it is our responsibility to protect our environment. The weather and the climate play an important role in our lives. It creates the conditions for how we live, how crops grow, what we have to eat, and what we have to wear. Weather is connected to different elements such as rainfall, wind, and humidity. Weather changes day to day or week to week, whereas climate refers to the conditions of weather over a long period of time, such as decades or centuries. These days, we notice extreme weather events like heat waves, strong storms, sudden floods, and droughts. Climate change is a serious problem nowadays. It not only affects the natural environment but also affects the lives of human beings.
If we talk about our past and compare past winters with the present days, we can feel a real difference. These days, we all are hearing about Guru Gobind Singh’s sons and his mother, and we also know about their circumstances. Everybody knows about the climate conditions of that time, when Sahibzadas and their grandmother got imprisonment in the Cold tower( Thanda burja) by Wazir Khan. At that time the climate was extremely cold. Temperature was sub zero Degree. In wheel of time. In same month same time temperature is 11°C. How and why? Because of weather conditions in past there was no global warming, no deforestation, no pollution In these days all because of global warming deforestation over pollution. people cut the trees for their own selfish reason. climate change has serious effect on natural ecosystem especially on plants and animals. Many species depends on climate condition to survive even ab it change in weather disturbs habitat . climate is mainly caused by human activities due to increase in amount of green house affect Gases in atmosphere like increaseCo2 and Methane this natural process keeps earth warm enough for our survive. But due to excess release of gases leads to global warming the things like the burning of coal and fossil fuels.Humans are the largest contributors to climate change. Deforestation also plays a pivotal role in climate change. When trees are cut down, the trees lose their ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.Other burning fossil fuels and industrial processes lead to increased levels of greenhouse gases. This results in an enhanced greenhouse effect, which causes global warming.Climate change directly affects human health, food production, and water resources. Pollution and extreme weather events are increasing in temperature and rainfall, causing floods, droughts, and heat waves.Climate change also causes water scarcity and affects agriculture. As a result, plants and animals are disappearing. Humans depend on nature for survival. In recent years, carbon dioxide emissions have increased due to vehicles, factories, and industrial activities. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere and raise the Earth’s temperature.According to studies, about 50% of glaciers have melted due to global warming. Climate change also affects the oceans and weather patterns.
Climate change also affects oceans. Warmer ocean temperatures disrupt marine ecosystems and coral reefs. Changes in ocean currents influence global weather patterns, leading to unpredictable climate behavior. Stronger hurricanes, changing monsoon patterns, and irregular rainfall are all linked to these changes. The impact of climate change on human life is profound. It directly affects human health by increasing heat-related illnesses, spreading infectious diseases, and worsening air quality. Pollution and rising temperatures make breathing difficult, especially for children and elderly people. Extreme weather events cause injuries, displacement, and loss of life. Food production is also under serious threat. Agriculture depends heavily on stable climate conditions. Unpredictable rainfall, droughts, floods, and heat waves reduce crop yields and threaten food security. Farmers struggle to adapt, and food prices rise, affecting millions of people . Water resources are becoming increasingly scarce. Climate change alters rainfall patterns, causing water shortages in some regions and floods in others. Glaciers, which supply freshwater to rivers, are shrinking. As a result, millions of people face water scarcity for drinking, sanitation, and irrigation. As climate change worsens, many plant and animal species are disappearing. Extinction rates are rising faster than ever before. Humans depend on nature for survival- for food, medicine, clean air, and water. Destroying nature ultimately means destroying ourselves.
In recent years, carbon dioxide emissions have increased sharply due to rapid industrialization and urban growth. Vehicles crowding roads, expanding factories, and energy-hungry industries release enormous amounts of greenhouse gases every day. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere and raise the Earth’s temperature, pushing the planet toward dangerous climate thresholds. The situation is alarming, but it is not hopeless. Climate change is a problem created by humans, and therefore, it can also be solved by humans. We must recognise our responsibility and take collective action. Protecting the environment is not just the duty of governments or scientists; it is the duty of every individual. Climate change has benefits as well as side effects, and its effects are visible today. We can see heat waves and floods occurring with high frequency. These impacts are increasing slowly, and climate change affects every sector of society, including health, the economy, and ecosystems . While some wealthier ecosystems have more resources to fight these effects, others suffer more.
In a nutshell, we, the youngsters and the youth of the country, have to look forward to slowing down this proble m. A problem cannot always be completely stopped, but it can be reduced. If people like Mahatma Gandhi could take steps to reduce problems, why can we not do the same? It is rightly said: “The work is done, the message is clear — a better future starts right here.”
